Endowments
Cal Poly Athletic's mission is to live by the Mustang Way. Endowment gifts from alumni and friends provide a permanent investment in Cal Poly's athletic future. An endowment sustains academic and athletic excellence by ensuring a continuous source of funding for scholarships or other needs of student-athletes.
Athletic scholarship costs make up a significant portion of the Cal Poly Athletics operating expenses. In 2011, an athletic scholarship was nearly $20,000. Growing our Endowments is essential to the long term sustainability of our sports. It will allow us the flexibility to use other funds raised for operating needs and facility improvements. Further, an endowed scholarship is held in perpetuity, with part of the annual earnings generating ongoing support for activities designated by the donor.
