Men’s Cross Country Finish 28th at NCAA Championships

TERRE HAUTE, IN – The Cal Poly men's cross country team finished 28th at the NCAA Championship on Monday in Terre Haute, IN. The Cal Poly women finished 105th and 146th in the women's race. The 2011 Championships were hosted by Indiana State University.

Senior Daniel Gonia once again paced the Mustangs with a 75th place finish. He covered the 10k course in a time of 30:48. Junior David Cardona crossed the line in 94th with a time of 30:58.

Sophomore Chris Frias had a solid run with a time of 31:48. He finished 162nd in the field. Junior Michael Johnson was 170th with a time of 31:53.

Senior Ryan Cosens was the last scoring Mustang in a time of 32:03 in 179th place.

Senior Bradon Shirck finished 182nd with a time of 32:05 with sophomore Sean Davidson crossing the line in 191st and a time of 32:13.

Wisconsin won the men's title followed by Oklahoma State.

Freshman Lawi Lalang from Arizona was the individual champion with a time of 28:44.   

In the women's race, senior Leanne Fogg finished 105th and covered the 6k course in a time of 21:04. True freshman Meghan Breadmore finished 146th and a time of 21:22.

Georgetown won the women's championship followed by Washington.

Senior Sheila Reid from Villanova was the individual champion with a time of 19:41.
