FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal Poly volleyball team did not have a strong showing in the team's Big West Conference opener, falling on the road to Cal State Fullerton in three sets. Set scores went 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23. With the loss the Mustangs fall to 5-9 overall and 0-1 in conference play while the Titans improve to 6-7 and 1-0.
The Mustangs will return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Long Beach State for a conference match at 7 pm
Sophomore Kristina Graven led the tem with 14 kills on 35 swings while junior Jennifer Keddy added seven kills. Molly Pon helped out with three with Catie Smith recording two.
Lauren Law led the Mustangs with 17 digs with Smith adding 15.
The Mustangs were led by Keddy with six blocks (five assisted) and Megan McConnell with five assisted blocks.
Cal Poly as a team hit .047 for the match and totaled 29 kills.
Cal State Fullerton hit .121 with 45 kills and held a 44-29 advantage in assists.
The Titans also held a 65-54 advantage in digs while the Mustangs outblocked CSF 11-8.
Kayla Neto led all players with 15 kills with Leah Maurer adding 11.
