Women's Soccer Selected to Finish 6th by Coaches

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly women's soccer team has been selected to finished sixth this season by the coaches of the Big West Conference in its preseason poll today.

Head coach Alex Crozier, returning for his 20th season at the helm of the Mustangs, returns 23 letterwinners, two redshirt freshmen from a squad that finished 9-9-1 overall last season and 3-4-1 in conference games.

Returning to the team will be all but two of the team's goal scorers from last season led by junior Bianca Burright with four goals and three assists. Also returning will be junior Haley Walker with two goals while senior Tiffany Gummow, juniors Julie McKee, Cici Kobinski and Lauren Miller, and sophomore Kacey Held each scored one goal.

Senior Booke Gauvin returns between the posts after posting an 8-7-1 record with six shutouts last year. She posted a 1.16 goals allowed average with a .820 save percentage.

UC Irvine was selected to win the Big West title receiving seven first place votes. Long Beach State was second with Cal State Northridge third.

Pacific and UC Santa Barbara were selected fourth and fifth followed by Cal Poly.
