Cal Poly Women's Golf Coaching Staff
Scott Cartwright
10th Season
Scott Cartwright is in his 12th season as head coach of the men's golf program, which was resurrected in 2000 and coached by Tom Moos for one year. Cartwright also is in his 10th season as the women's golf head coach.
Cal Poly's 2009-10 women's squad won the Cal State Bakersfield Spring Invitational, shared first place in the Firestone Grill College Invitational and finished tied for second in the Lady Aztec Fall Classic, finishing fourth in the Big West Conference Championships.
Stephanie Yocum captured medalist honors in the Firestone Grill College Invitational, a year after claiming Cal Poly's first Big West Conference individual title.
Cal Poly's 2010-11 squad won the Lamkin Grip Challenge (Cal Poly), earned a pair of second-place team finishes and placed third in the Big West Conference Championship with no seniors in the lineup. Alex Phillips shared first place in the Lamkin Grip Challenge while Taylor Yoshitake placed in the top 10 five times and Asia Adell and Alicia Weber each had four.
Last year's team won the Point Loma Nazarene Super San Diego and
finished second in the 10-team Marsh Landing Invitational in
Jacksonville, Florida. The Mustangs placed fifth in the Big West
Conference Championships.
A former golf pro at the San Luis Obispo Country Club, Cartwright
guided the Mustang men's program to its first Big West Conference
championship in 2006. He also coached former Mustang standout
Travis Bertoni to 11 career wins, including the Big West individual
title in 2005.
Other positions held by Cartwright include head coach of the golf
team at San Luis Obispo High School from 1997-2000 and head pro at
the Mountain View Country Club in Corona from 1981-90.
He was named Northern Chapter Golf Professional of the Year in
1993 and 1997.
Cartwright played golf at Cal State Fullerton and graduated in
1981 with a major in physical education and a minor in
business.
He has played in numerous tournaments, winning the 1998 Straight
Down Fall Classic in San Luis Obispo and teaming with former Cal
Poly golfer Rebecca Norris to win the Southern California PGA
Pro-Lady Championship in 2006 at the Santa Ana Country Club. He
also won the event in 1991.
Cartwright was a PGA Tour qualifier for the 1991 San Diego Open
and has worked in professional golf for over 25 years.
He has guided the Cal Poly men's team to the NCAA West Regional
twice and individuals in four other regionals.
Scott and his wife Cheryl have two children.
