Cal Poly Women's Golf Drops into Sixth-Place Tie in Folino Invitational
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. – The Cal Poly women's golf team slipped one position into a sixth-place tie Monday with a four-person 317 total, two strokes higher than in the first round, at the Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort.
Mustang Taylor Yoshitake enters Tuesday's final round tied for ninth place, carding a 78 for a 36-hole 154 total on the 6,088-yard, par-71 Zaharias course.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Asia Adell, tied for 23rd place with an 80 for a 157 total; Morgan Thomas (pictured at right), tied for 29th place with an 82 for a 159 total; Kirsten Locke, tied for 40th place with a 78 for a 163 total; and Laura Howard, tied for 53rd place with an 81 for a 166 total.
Competing as an individual, Alex Phillips is tied for 36th place with an 86 for a 161 total. Phillips was tied for third place after her first-round 75 Sunday.
Tara Green of Montana has a four-stroke lead over Alice Kim of Gonzaga entering the final round. Green shot a 68 for a 142 total while Kim carded a 70 and is at 146.
Gonzaga leads the team standings with a 36-over-par 604 total, followed by Cal State Fullerton at 608 and Montana at 609. Cal Poly has a 64-over-par 636 total and is tied for sixth place with Sacramento State.
