Women Shine in Triple Jump and Pole Vault at UW Open
SEATTLE, WA – The Cal Poly women indoor track and field team posted some solid marks at the UW Open held at the Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, WA. Highlighting Sunday's competition was sophomore Siera Hearne with a first place tie in the pole vault while Turquoise Williams and Shereese Cutler went two-three in the triple jump.
Hearne cleared 11 feet, 7.75 inches in the pole vault, earning her a tie for first place in the event. Hearne cleared the her height on her first attempt, but failed to clear her next height of 12 feet, 1.50 inches.
Williams placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, 3.50 inches. Williams hit her mark on her final attempt. Cutler, placing third, fouled on her first two attempts, but hit 37 feet, 6.75 inches on her last jump.
In the shot put, freshman Talavosa Hingano posted a mark of 39 feet, 1.25 inches while Hearne hit a mark of 36 feet, 10.50 inches.
Calynn Stanford had a leap of 14 feet, 10 inches in the long jump, hitting her mark on her first attempt while Hannah McDaniel cleared 5 feet, 5 inches in the high jump. Whitney Sisler cleared 5 feet, 3 inches.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Sisler posted a solid time of 9.44 with Cutler clocked in 9.53.
In the 600 meter run, Jenna Davis posted a time of 1:33.98 with Elaina Cromer finishing with a time of 1:42.07.
