Cal Poly Swimmers Named All MPSF Selections

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation has announced the 2012 All-MPSF swimming selections and Cal Poly swimmers made the first and second teams.

At the MPSF Championships, senior Lacey Buck finished first in the race.  In four years of competition, she remains undefeated in the 1650 meter freestyle race.  She was named to the first team. Buck's time of 4:54.27 qualified her for the second team in the 500 yard freestyle. 

In the 400 meter individual medley, senior Kylie France was named to the first team.  Her time of 4:19.07 qualified her for the honor.

Junior Angie Haven was named to the first team in the 200 yard breaststroke with her time of 2:14.03.  Haven's time of 2:05.23 qualified her for the second team in the 200 meter individual medley.  In the 100 meter breaststroke, Haven was named to the second team with her time of 1:03.11.

Belen Enguidanos (pictured at right) was Cal Poly's only freshman to be named to the first team.  Enguidanos' time of 2:00.79 in the 200 meter butterfly qualified her for the first team.

Junior Katrina Anderson qualified for second team in three events.  She posted a time of 2:04.93 in the 200 meter individual medley.  In the 100 meter backstroke, Anderson made second team with her time of 57.04.   The Anderson's time of 2:01.87 in the 200 meter backstroke qualified her for the second team in that event.

Cal Poly sophomore Amanda Maffris qualified for the second team honors in three events.  She posted a time of 4:21.17 in the 400 meter individual relay.  Maffris finished the 200 meter butterfly with a time of 2:03.76 and qualified in the 200 meter backstroke at 2:00.95.

Senior Gloria Benefield also made the second team in three events including the 200 meter backstroke.  Her finish time in the event was 2:01.03. Benefield qualified for second team in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 56.31.  In the 100 meter backstroke, Benefield qualified for the second time after posting a time of 56.20.

In the 50 meter freestyle race, senior Amy Morales finished with a time of 23.63.  This qualified her for the second team.  Morales was also on the 200 meter freestyle relay team with sophomore Jill Jones, sophomore Kelsey Engel and sophomore Rachel Cleak.  They qualified for the second team in the event.

Sophomore Jill Jones also made the second time in the 100 meter freestyle.  Her qualifying time was 51.29.

Cal Poly divers were also named to the second team.  Sophomore Sami McIntyre was named to the second team in the three meter dive with her score of 268.00.  In the platform dive she had a score of 158.85 qualifying her for the second team.  McIntyre also qualified for second team in the one meter dive with a score of 212.40.  Fellow sophomore, Meaghan O'Meara qualified for second team honors in the one meter dive with her score of 241.15.  She also qualified for the second team in the three meter dive after gaining 226.20 points.
