Cal Poly Dominates UC Santa Cruz
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal Poly swimmers dominated UC Santa Cruz in the Anderson Aquatic center Saturday afternoon. The Cal Poly women tallied 217 points to UC Santa Cruz's 63, with the Cal Poly men scoring 214 points to Santa Cruz's 70.
Cal Poly men and women swept all 28 swimming events. On the men's side sophomore Adrian Brynnel had a season's best time in the men's 1000 yard freestyle with his time of 9:39.29 he also won the 500 yard freestyle. Sophomore Konrad Antoniuk also scored a season's best in the men's 200 yard butterfly touching the wall at 1:55.30, he also won the 400 yard individual medley. For junior, Omar Dwidar the men's 100 yard freestlye came with a season's best time of 47.52. Freshman Jimmy Deiparine won two events the 100 yard breaststroke (59.60) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:14.05.)
Senior Lacey Buck won two events including the 500 yard freestyle (5:04.15) and the 1000 yard freestyle (10:25.25.) It was junior Angie Havens who was the first to touch the wall in the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard breaststroke. For sophomore Rachel Cleak, the first place finishes came in the 100 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly.
This was the last home meet of the season. The Mustang swimmers will be back in action February 4, 2012 at UC Santa Barbara.
