SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- The NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee has selected the 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams that will compete in the 2012 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships and Cal Poly's Andre Dome qualified in singles while the duo of Dome and Matt Fawcett qualified in doubles.
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 23-28 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., following the conclusion of the team championship (May 18-22). The University of Georgia will serve as host.
All matches shall be the best of three sets. Regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games all will be used for all matches.
Overall Dome posted a 22-7 singles record this season overall and dominated Big West competition with a 7-0 record and did not drop a set in any match. The junior is currently No. 40 in the nation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings and has defeated six nationally ranked opponents this season including wins over No. 43 Georgy Batrakov of BYU and No. 44 Matija Pecotic of Princeton, both in straight sets.
Dome and Fawcett earned all-conference first-team honors as a doubles team posting an impressive 10-1 mark in dual matches. The duo is currently ranked 64th in the latest ITA poll.
