Mark Jones enters his fifth season as an assistant on head coach
Paul Holocher’s managerial staff this fall. Jones, an
All-Big West Conference first team honoree in 2003 and an honorable
mention selection in 2004, is in charge of the program’s
speed and strength development as well as refining the Cal Poly
program’s offensive-minded approach.
As a player at Cal Poly (2001-04), Jones led the Mustang program in scoring with five goals as a freshman and four further strikes as a sophomore. Jones, who started 57 of the 74 matches Cal Poly contested during his standout four-year career, added three goals during his 2003 junior season before registering two more strikes and four assists during his 2004 senior campaign.
A standout player at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, Calif., Jones led the Bells in scoring during the course of his stellar high school career while helping the program to a No. 1 national ranking.
Jones graduated from Cal Poly in 2005 with a kinesiology degree.
