After starting 10 games at first base a year ago, is slated to be Cal Poly's starting right fielder as a sophomore.
2011: Started 15 games and played in 11 others as a true freshman … finished with .286 batting average … five doubles and a pair of home runs … five-game hitting streak as he hit in first five games in which he played as a Mustang … streak was capped with 3-for-4 game with two doubles and three RBI at Oklahoma State on Feb. 27 … three multiple-hit games and pair of multiple-RBI contests … both home runs were in 21-0 win at Pacific on May 22 and both were three-run shots … was 5-for-10 in day games (.500) and 6-for-36 at night (.167) ... hit .323 on the road and .200 in home games ... a .438 hitter against lefties and hit .345 with bases empty ... played summer ball for Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League champion Bethesda Big Train, hitting .185 with three doubles, two triples, one RBI and pair of stolen bases.
High School: A .266 hitter as a senior under head coach Zach Miller at Westlake High School ... eight doubles, two home runs and six stolen bases in eight attempts ... helped Westlake to 14-15 overall record, 7-7 mark for fifth place in Marmonte League and a wild-card berth in CIF-Southern Section playoffs ... a potential starter at first base as a true freshman at Cal Poly this spring ... despite injuries, hit .380 with four home runs, 14 RBI and 15 stolen bases as a junior in 2009 ... earned first-team All-Marmonte League and second-team All-Ventura County honors ... also lettered in basketball as a freshman and sophomore ... graduated with a 4.5 grade-point average ... was recruited by Loyola Marymount, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara and Fresno State, selecting Cal Poly because it is the best fit academically, personally and in terms of its baseball coaching staff.
