May 12, 2012 | Men's Tennis No. 22 Texas Tech Defeats No. 63 Mustangs in First Round of NCAA’s, 4-1 The 63rd-ranked Cal Poly men’s tennis team did everything they could to upset 22nd-ranked Texas Tech in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship, but it would be too much with Texas Tech prevailing, 4-1, Saturday at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley. The Mustangs conclude the season 15-8 while Texas Tech improves to 16-8 and will face the winner of the Cal – UTSA match on Sunday.

May 11, 2012 | Track & Field Sisler Wins Long Jump at Big West Championships Senior Whitney Sisler won the women’s long jump while the women’s team is in sixth with 21 points after the first day of competition of the Big West Conference Track and Field Championships in Irvine on Friday. The Cal Poly men’s team is fifth with 30 points. UC Santa Barbara leads the men’s competition after the first day with 105 points while the UCSB women’s team leads with 73 points.
May 11, 2012 | Softball Late Rallies Propel Cal Poly Softball to Doubleheader Split Freshman shortstop Celina Lafrades cracked her first collegiate home run during the opening game of a Friday afternoon doubleheader against UC Riverside and the Cal Poly softball program scratched out a run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh before scoring four times during the ninth to claim a 6-5 triumph at Bob Janssen Field. The Mustangs, however, dropped the nightcap decision, 6-3.
May 10, 2012 | Baseball Cal Poly to Host CSU Bakersfield for Three-Game Non-Conference Series Cal Poly (27-19, 10-8 Big West), which has won six of 11 weekend series, including four sweeps, and is in fourth place in the Big West Conference standings, takes a break from Big West play this weekend by hosting CSU Bakersfield (19-23, Independent) for a three-game non-conference series in Baggett Stadium. First pitches are set for 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
May 12, 2012 | Men's Tennis Men’s Tennis to Travel to Berkeley for First-Round Match vs. Texas Tech The Cal Poly men’s tennis team will play Texas Tech in the opening round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship in Berkeley on May 11th or 12th. The No. 14 seed, California, will host and play the University of Texas-San Antonio. The winners of the two matches will advance to the second round and play in Berkeley on May 12th or 13th.
May 8, 2012 | Softball Cal Poly Softball Hosts UC Riverside to Close 2012 Regular Season The Mustang softball program completes regular season action and looks to stem a seven-game slide when hosting UC Riverside for a May 11-12 three-game set at Bob Janssen Field. UCSB defeated Cal Poly in both the men’s and women’s competition. UCSB prevailed on the men’s side, 104-96 and defeated the Cal Poly women’s team, 116-86.

April 18, 2012 | Football Scrimmage, Coaches Clinic, Spring Game on Tap for Cal Poly Football Cal Poly's final scrimmage of the 2012 Spring Camp prior to the Green and Gold Spring Game will be held Saturday afternoon in conjunction with a coaches clinic. Practice on the "I" Field, located behind Mott Gym and adjacent to the tennis courts and outdoor track, begins at 3 p.m., with the scrimmage to start at about 4:30 p.m.
April 17, 2012 | Softball Mustang Softball Welcomes UC Davis to Cap Six-Game Home Stand The Cal Poly softball program completes a six-game home stand when hosting UC Davis for a three-game April 21-22 set at Bob Janssen Field. The Mustangs (11-26, 3-6) improved to sixth place in the Big West Conference standings after winning two of three games against Cal State Northridge this past weekend. UC Davis (16-24, 6-3), meanwhile, worked itself in to a three-way knot for second place in the Big West standings with Long Beach State (18-21, 6-3) and UC Santa Barbara (21-25, 6-3) after sweeping last-place UC Riverside (18-23, 1-8). The second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against UC Davis will mark Cal Poly’s 900th game at the Division I level (1995-present).

In sharp contrast, a total of 15 players from UC Davis and Southern Utah, which shared last place with 1-3 records, were voted onto the first team by the conference’s five head coaches. Six Aggies and nine Thunderbirds were honored.

November 21, 2011 | Football Cal Poly Football Completes Difficult 2011 Slate with Another Winning Record In 2011, Cal Poly played a pair of FBS teams, five FCS squads that were in the national polls at one time or another this season and another team that won its first 19 games and is on a fast track to the FBS. Nevertheless, head coach Tim Walsh and his Mustangs somehow managed to overcome the difficult schedule as well as numerous injuries, putting together Cal Poly’s eighth winning season in the last nine years by finishing with a 6-5 mark and capturing the school’s fourth Great West Conference title in the eight-year history of the league.
