After becoming eligible to play in mid-March, quickly became Cal Poly’s Sunday starter last spring and is expected to fulfill the same role as a true sophomore.

2009: Appeared in 13 games with 11 starts ... 6-2 record and 5.31 ERA as a true freshman with 54 strikeouts in 76.1 innings ... earned save in first collegiate appearance, allowing no earned runs and two hits in three innings against Cal State Bakersfield on March 21 ... also pitched three scoreless innings in relief against Santa Clara on April 14 ... allowed two runs and seven hits in 6.1 innings against Pacific on April 10 with career-high six strikeouts, four runs and nine hits in 8.0 innings versus Cal State Fullerton on May 10 and three runs and nine hits for win at Long Beach State on May 17 ... team-leading 2.7 strikeouts-to-walks ratio ... played summer ball for San Luis Obispo Rattlers ... 0-1 record and 2.75 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.

Prep: Earned two varsity letters in baseball under head coach Fred Warrecker at Santa Barbara High, helping Dons to pair of Channel League titles ... Channel League MVP and was a first-team All-CIF-Southern Section honoree .. twice earned first-team All-Channel League honors ... posted 12-2 mark with four saves and a 1.49 ERA as a senior, leading Dons to 18-9 overall record, 10-2 mark for first place in Channel League and a spot in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs ... 120 strikeouts in 89 innings ... nine complete games, including pair of shutouts in back-to-back starts against San Marcos (three-hitter) and Moorpark (no-hitter) ... also hit .289 with five doubles, a triple, one home run and 25 RBIs ... as a junior compiled 8-2 record and 1.62 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 69 innings and one save ... Dons were 23-5 in 2007, 10-2 for share of Channel League title and reached the second round of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs ... drafted in 41st round by Chicago White Sox in June 2008 ... visited UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine before selecting Cal Poly ... played summer ball for San Luis Obispo Rattlers, posting 5-4 record and 3.50 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 54 innings.
