Sebastian Bell, Senior, 5-8, 155, Glen Waverley, Australia

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly senior men's tennis player Sebastian Bell, who won the clinching match in the Big West Conference Championship on Sunday, has been named Coca-Cola/Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.

Bell, an economics major, won a tiebreaker in the final set to lift Cal Poly to a 4-3 victory over UC Santa Barbara at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, securing the program's first Big West title.

With the team score tied at 3-3 and only the No. 6 singles match to be completed, Bell lost the first set, 6-4, to UC Santa Barbara's Max Glenn. Bell stormed back to dominate the second set 6-1.

In the third, Bell broke Glenn twice to force the match into a tiebreaker, which Bell won 7-4, securing the set, match and the championship for Cal Poly.

In the 4-0 semifinal-round win over UC Davis, Bell defeated Josh Albert in straight sets.

With the win, the Mustangs, coached by Nick Carless, improve to 15-7 for the season and advance to the NCAA Men's Tennis Regionals. Pairings will be announced Tuesday afternoon on NCAA.com.

Bell is 13-7 for the season, including an 11-4 dual meet mark.
